iPOD, SAY HELLO TO WINDOWS
WEST DES MOINES, IA (24-June-2002) —Mediafour Corporation today announced the release of its much-anticipated XPlay software, giving Windows users the ability to seamlessly and elegantly use the Apple iPod MP3 player with their Windows PCs.
XPlay is the only complete solution for using the Apple iPod with Windows-based PCs. Based on Mediafour's own MacDrive technology, XPlay makes the iPod appear to users as both a portable music player and as a normal hard drive, giving users a great way to take their music and important data files and documents with them everywhere. Integration with Windows Explorer makes songs, playlists, artists, and albums as easy to access and manipulate as typical files and folders on a PC hard drive.
XPlay makes the iPod a tightly-integrated PC peripheral. With XPlay, users can create and organize their playlists, change equalization settings, trim song start and stop times, and tweak other song information, including song title, artist and album. If desired, XPlay will even automatically synchronize the contents of the iPod with the music collection stored on a PC's hard drive.
"The Apple iPod may well be the coolest consumer electronics device I've ever held," said Mediafour president Brian Landwehr. "When I first touched it, I knew that Windows users would want it, too. There is no company more qualified than Mediafour to make that happen."
XPlay is available for online purchase immediately, and will be available at stores nationwide in July, for a suggested retail price of $29.95.
Requirements
Use of XPlay requires Windows XP, 2000, Me, or 98SE, an Apple iPod (either the 10GB or the 5GB model), and an available FireWire port (also known as IEEE-1394 or Sony i.Link). FireWire ports can be inexpensively added to computers lacking them.
