Filmtecknarna Jumbo Jet sequences take U2 video sky high...
Boris Nawratil was in charge of the design for the plane, with the special effects being composed by Robert Krupa and Stefan Andersson at Filmtecknarna F. Animation. The process began with Boris taking some reference pictures and building the Boeing from scratch in SoftImage 3D. The team then had to match about 13-16 shots and ensure that the CGI plane matched the real cameras.
"We really enjoyed working on these special effects and were delighted with the results. The lighting at the airport was somewhat of a challenge to match in 3D and we had just 10 days of production to deliver 13 shots! ".

The video was directed by Jonas Akerlund at the production company Petersson Akerlund. He also brought Filmtecknarna on board to produce the animated sequence for the Madonna ‘Music' video last year.
"It's always fun to work with Jonas Akerlund. All the projects have great coverage and you know that they will run on most TV channels across the world. We're pleased that the jet sequences proved so effective and integral to the whole drama played out during the song. Even the sound of the jets has been incorporated in the track and the Boeing jets certainly add a different dimension to the story".
